How it started.

In San Francisco there were between two and six AI events to choose from every day. Bulgaria had none most weeks. Then a message arrived from Sasha Sheng, founder of the AI Engineer Foundation, asking Yavor to lead its first chapter in Europe.

The first meetup was on 19 December 2023. The rhythm has held ever since: After Hours every week, Community Talks with keynotes a few times a year, a monthly night with the Data Science Society, and a Discord for everything in between. Always completely free.

The hackathon.

Billed as Bulgaria's biggest AI hackathon. October 2024, Work&Share, Sofia.

Hosted by Juma, then called Team-GPT, and AIE.F, with Iris.ai and Appolica. Saturday opened with talks and workshops, coding started after lunch and ran until Sunday afternoon. Then demos, prizes, and DJs until midnight. The night before, a mixer for people still looking for a team.

The jury came from True Ventures, AIE.F Europe, Juma, Appolica and Iris.ai. Backed by MongoDB, Mistral AI, LaunchHub, Together.ai, ElevenLabs, Several Clouds, SciPhi and Julep AI.

    21 joint networking nights so far, about one a month, plus the AI for Transparent Elections hackathon in March 2026.

  • Juma Labs

    AIE.F Europe is run by the Juma Labs team. Community Talks #7 was the Juma launch, January 2026, our biggest night at 347 sign-ups. Then Agents by the Sea in Varna, August 2026.

  • SAP Labs Bulgaria

    Community Talks #6 at SAP Labs, April 2025. Three sessions from SAP Business AI and Intelligent Agriculture, 214 signed up.

  • Redis

    A January 2025 meet-up with Redis' AI leadership on RAG, agents and semantic caching, 115 signed up.
